About this tool
Split a bill the way it actually went. Add the people, list the items with their prices, tap to assign who shared what, and Ringkes distributes tax, service, and discount proportionally to each person's subtotal. When more than one person paid up front, the settle-up section computes the minimum number of transfers needed to balance everyone out. Hit Save and the whole result becomes a clean PNG you can drop into WhatsApp, iMessage, Telegram, or anywhere else — no app install required from your friends, no signup from you. Optional receipt scan via OCR helps prefill items, but always double-check before splitting.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is tax and service split?
Proportionally to each person's subtotal. If Alice ate $40 worth and Bob ate $20, Alice covers two-thirds of the tax and service. Splitting tax evenly is unfair when people ordered very different amounts.
What does "Settle up" do?
When some people paid up front, it computes the minimum set of transfers to balance everyone out. Two people who pre-paid means the result lands as plain 'X pays Y' lines instead of everyone wiring to one person.
Is the receipt scan accurate?
It uses OCR.space behind the scenes — good for clear printed receipts, mediocre for thermal-printer fade or photos at an angle. Always check the items and prices before sharing the result. The scan is a head start, not a final answer.
Where does the data go?
Bills, people, items — everything stays in your browser via localStorage. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. The receipt scan is the only step that briefly sends an image to a third-party OCR service; the image is not retained on our side.
Does it work offline?
Yes for the core flow — entering people, items, modifiers, and exporting an image. Receipt scan needs internet because the OCR runs on a server.
Which currencies are supported?
About 22 major currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, IDR, SGD, MYR, INR, and more) with proper number formatting. The math is currency-agnostic — only display formatting changes.
