About this tool

A focused monthly budget planner. Set your income for the month, then fill in amounts for categories grouped into Needs (rent, utilities, groceries, transport), Wants (dining, entertainment, shopping), and Savings (emergency fund, investments). The Distribution section shows a colored bar for each group — filled to the percentage of income that group consumes, with an OVER warning if it exceeds 100%. A 50/30/20 preset button distributes your income into the three groups automatically. Save multiple months, switch between them via the tab strip, and export the active month as Markdown or the full history as JSON. Works fully offline.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 50/30/20 rule?

A simple budgeting guideline: spend 50% of after-tax income on Needs (rent, utilities, groceries, transport, insurance), 30% on Wants (dining out, entertainment, hobbies, shopping), and 20% on Savings & Debt repayment. The 50/30/20 preset button divides your income accordingly and spreads the result evenly across the categories you have set up.

Can I add custom categories?

Yes. Below the Needs/Wants/Savings lists, type a name and amount, pick which group it belongs to, and tap +. The category appears in that group and updates the totals and bar chart instantly.

How do I see last month's budget?

The strip at the top of the page lists every month you have saved. Tap any month to switch to it — the form updates to that month's data, and you can edit it or use it as a starting point for the next month.

Where is my data stored?

Only in your browser localStorage. Nothing leaves your device. Export to JSON for backup and to transfer to another browser; Import to restore.
