Frequently Asked Questions
Where do the exchange rates come from?
Rates are sourced from the European Central Bank (ECB) via the free Frankfurter API. The ECB publishes daily reference rates for 31+ currencies; Frankfurter extends this to 160+ currencies with cross-rate calculations. Rates are updated every business day around 16:00 CET.
How often do rates update?
The tool fetches fresh rates every hour when you have internet. If offline, it uses the last successfully cached rates (stored in localStorage with timestamp).
Can I use it offline?
Yes. After the first load, the latest rates are saved to your browser. You can convert currencies fully offline — the badge will show "Cached" with the date/time of the last update.
