About this tool
A precision stopwatch for everyday timing — workouts, study sprints, coffee, cooking. The big mm:ss.cs display updates 30 times a second for smooth digits, and the lap button captures split times without interrupting the run. Fastest and slowest laps are highlighted automatically so you can see your best split at a glance. Your personal best (the fastest single lap) is saved on this device and persists across reloads, so you can challenge yourself to beat it tomorrow. Reset clears the current run; Clear (in the laps card) wipes the saved lap list without stopping the timer. Everything runs locally — no data leaves your browser, and it works fully offline.

Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the stopwatch?
Up to one centisecond (1/100 s). The display updates about 30 times a second so the digits tick smoothly, but the underlying precision is millisecond-level. The first time you start a session the browser may add a tiny warm-up delay (under 50 ms); after that the count is reliable.
What does Lap do?
Lap records the current time as a split and shows both the total elapsed and the delta from the previous lap. The fastest and slowest laps are highlighted automatically so you can see your best split without scrolling.
What is the Best time?
Best is the fastest single lap you have ever recorded in this browser (saved to localStorage). It is not affected by Reset — only by Clear or by a faster lap. Use it as a personal benchmark to beat across workouts or study sprints.
Will it keep running if I close the tab?
The stopwatch itself pauses when the tab is closed (the browser suspends background timers). However, the elapsed time and laps are saved. The next time you open the page, the laps are still listed so you can review your run.
What does Reset do?
Reset stops the current run and clears the elapsed time back to 00:00. Your saved laps are kept (use Clear to remove them). The Best time is not affected by Reset.
